During June 28-July 2,2000, WHTS
sent a delegation with 19 members to have survey on the policies of high
tech projects under the leadership of the President of WHTS, Dr. Xiaodan
Mei. It is one week program. WHTS members presented their proposal of scientific
projects and new product development for the local industrial corporations.
WHTS members presented their opinions and strategies to the attendants for
developing biotech industries in Liaoning. Delegation members visited several
high tech zones and economic zones in that area. Vice Governor, Mr. Guoguang
Zhang, Director of Liaoning Science and Technology Department, Mr. Wenduo
Wei met with WHTS leaders, President Dr. Xiaodan Mei, Vice President, Dr.
Lixin Zhang, and Dr. Zhongli Zheng at Bangchui Dao to discuss launching
a high tech park in Dalian Lushun District, which is close to the Ocean.
WHTS members suggested that it look like San Diego, Which may function as
Scripps Research Institute in China. WHTS leaders suggested the formation
of such creative engine for local biotech industry should be crucial for
sustainable development of biotech in this area. Local government officers
and company leaders extended several invitations to WHTS members.
During the grand event, Vice Mayor, Dr. Deren Xia,
treated the President of WHTS, Dr.Xiaodan Mei, and Dr. Lixin Zhang, and
Dr. Zhongli Zheng, and
invited them to go to Dalian to establish company.
WHTS members were so impressed by the development of
Dalian City in the past 10 years. Several members
signed collaborative agreements with local
institutions and companies. |
